Hi, it’s Cleveland Author Jameel Davis and I am excited to announce I will be co-hosting and moderating TU Book Expo’s’ 5th International Writers Workshop with my international friends in Toronto, Ontario Canada, Saturday July 29, 2023 2pm-4pm at the “LAUFT.”

Our theme for this years’ event is Black Writers & Wellness Check-In and I invite you to kick-off your Carnival and Emancipation week with a wellness check-in featuring black writers, speakers, recording artists, poets and community partners.

Some of our featured guests include:

Together we will be highlighting Black Writers in Mental Health, Trauma, Healing, Working together as a Black Writing Community, International Business, Book Sales, Marketing and more in this welcoming and safe environment.

The International Writers’ Workshop is a series of educational sessions for Black writers to connect, share, inform, read, and network with one another. It has been crafted to offer a cultural framework for sharing purposeful writing, specifically with the Black writer in mind. Our online and in person sessions are shaped to encourage and support writers on their personal creative journeys. During our interactive discussions, experts will share culturally-specific experiences and strategies for writing and marketing, in addition to providing resources for starting, sustaining, and [self-]publishing writing projects in a variety of genres. The workshops will include interactive elements such as panel discussions, breakout rooms (where applicable), author readings/demonstrations, webinar-style presentations and more.

The purpose of this event is to provide writers and creatives with tips and insights about marketing, self publishing, branding, and wellness tips. Our goal is to inspire and motivate writers as well as provide practical tools and resources for current and aspiring authors from the Black community, who are typically underrepresented and insufficiently supported in the literary sector. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions, meet guest speakers, and network.

We are excited for you all to join us in person and online as we present our 2023 Black Writers & Wellness Check-In.
